Hand Stitching.

I am still working on my quilt 'Journey of a Quilter' as part of my UFO challenge. All nine blocks are made and I only have two more blocks to work the hand embroidery, before it can be quilted.
I love the books and patterns written by Anni Downs and Lynnette Anderson, as they combine both embroidery with patchwork.

A friend of mine and I both said that we would love to made a redwork quilt.

On seeing this book by Pearl Louise Krush and the quilt called Merry Merry Snowman, I decided that I wanted to design my own quilt (a first for me) and pictures to remind me of my children's Christmas' past, so that it will maybe become a family heirloom to be used at that special time of year. I have drawn up the blocks and now need to work on the drawings. I also need to start collecting lots of different red fabrics as I want the patchwork to be quite scrappy. We are off to Just Between Friends to start shopping in a couple of weeks.

  1. What a lovely idea!!! That is another reason I want to begin practicing Slow Quilting - I want to do some designing and make quilts that are more my own. Good for you! Can't wait to see it progress =^..^=

  2. Me too...I'm still working on my Journey of A Quilter blocks...am on the last one. Have no idea why it is taking me so long...perhaps I am procrastinating the end of the journey??
    Thanks for linking up!
