Round Robin Quilt
At one of the Patchwork work groups I belong to, we started two round robin quilts last year, based on an idea from the magazine Popular Patchwork. I was given the task to work on the Amish style quilt above. We were to use fabric from our stash and colours that matched the previous ones used. The other quilt was more colourful and is now finished. Neither of these quilts inspired anyone in the group, which is a shame. We are going to raffle them later in the year, when we display some quilts in the local church.
This week I had to quilt the section above that I had added. I don't normally apply hand quilting, but decided to give it a go, using the marked quilters tape. It made the task much easier, but the stitches were rather large, I now need to play about with the marks to try and make my stitches smaller. Despite this, I was happy with the end result both on the back and front of the quilt, even though a cheap wadding that bearded was used. I am now inspired to hand quilt one of my UFO's, which is an embellished lap quilt. I bought some low loft cotton wadding yesterday, so that I can get started. Tomorrow, I will make the sandwich, so that I am ready to start hand stitching. I tried to buy some wool wadding to use, but neither of the shops I visited had any for sale, so more online shopping for me.

ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great, there's nothing wrong with your stitches.
ReplyDeleteYour stitches look very nice for sure. And the quilt is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteI agree, your stitches look good to me too! I really like the quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour stitches are great! We did a round robin project one time with our quilting group and I thought it was great fun!
ReplyDeleteRound Robins can either be fantastic and inspirational, or be a disaster. This one doesn't seem to have ben wither, although personally I think the quilt looks good. As to the quilting, even stitches are the goal, and you've certainly achieved that!
