UFO Challenge March 2012

In June 2008, I signed up for a BOM at a quilt show with Antique Angel. The quilt pattern was called "Journey of a Quilter" by Leanne Beasley of Leanne's House. The idea was to piece each blog as it arrived and hopefully stitch the embroidery on each panelthat month too. For the first eight months, I did manage to piece each block, but I soon fell behind on the stitching. Last month my UFO challenge was to piece all nine blocks together. Looking at all the fantastic work that others were managing to complete each month, I decided to push the boundaries and include completeing all the stitching on the blocks too. The challenge was possible, but I have to admit that I failed! I started off great and then a holiday got in the way. I have made lots of progress on the blocks, with three now being completed and four more 80% complete. I will continue to work on this challenge this month as I still want to have the whole quilt finished by the end of the year.

My UFO challenge for April is to complete a Japenese Style bag. This is the perfect choice this month as I had already decided that I wanted to finish this bag for another holiday in May. The pattern comes from the book by Julia Davis & Anne Muxworthy and is called the Monoyma Holdall. I have already seen this pattern made by several people, it is a great size with an external pocket for easy access. I have chosen to use taupe, brown and duck egg blue fabric rather than the recommended japenese prints. All the pieces are cut out, the bag just need to be quilted and assembled!

  2. So will I! Loved the quilt when I started it and it will be nice, but my tastes have changed so much since 2008.

  3. Lovely stitching. It's frustrating when our self-imposed deadlines don't happen, but good that you are persevering. I have some of those projects too :-)

  4. Great work so far on the UFO. I hope you don't loose steam just because it is the end of the month. It is going to be a beautiful quilt when you get it done.
