Transfer Paints

Last Saturday I did a workshop at Hutton with Nickie. She taught us different techniques on how to apply transfer dyes and gave us ideas on how to produce different types of books. As usual I decided to go larger than the recommended sample, as so I need a bigger chiffon scarf to over lay my printed work. Lots of different colours are on order from Ario, but I am still waiting for them to arrive, so that I can apply my hand stitching. Totally inspired to do some more work with transfer paints, I painted up lots of A4 sheets to apply onto some craft vilene. At school we have a heat press that will transfer the dyes in 20 seconds, so much easier than using an iron. Only, I picked up some self adhesive pelmet vilene by mistake and now my transferred colours have the coloured papers stuck to them. They will come off, if wetted and then rubbed. So much for it being quicker!

Today I attended Basildon Embroiderer's Guild, where they were holding a workshop, which just happened to be using transfer paints and crayons. It was very well attended and all the ladies had a great time. It is a three part workshop, so we will have to wait until next month to find out what to do next.

Going to Basildon, meant I just had to pop into Craft Arena and Hobbycraft. Of course, I had to spend some money, especially as Hobbycraft had a sale on. I also visited the first exhibition to be held in Denise's gallery. There were some really excellent pieces of work, my favourites being the Venice Windows, the Shadows of Praque and Echoes of Byzantium. The exhibition by a group called Nine, is to be extended for another week.

My main reason for shopping was to purchase some threads in shades of yellow (not a colour, I usually work with). My first task with Material Girls is to work in this colour. I have some lovely ideas, but I just didn't have the resourses to start some development work.
